AILA
has been advised by the USCIS officer in charge in
Please note
that, as to rumors of being able to buy a slot for a certain day
from certain service providers, some people are attempting to grab
appointments by inserting fictitious names into INFOPASS to hold
slots and then attempting to insert the name of a "real" applicant
(i.e., those willing to buy these slots). What happens is that these
providers then cancel the appointment for the fake person and insert
the real applicant. USCIS is working on ending this practice, but
understand that if you choose to use these service providers, you
can end up buying your client a referral to the long waiting line
versus a potential approval of a waiver at the time of the INFOPASS
appointment. Waiver cases are referred versus approved at the time
of the INFOPASS appointment for basically three reasons: 1)
insufficient documentation; 2) database hits; and 3) appointment
irregularities. The instances of this abuse are small, but if you
take the bait and try this approach of "buying" a slot your client
could lose out. The best time to try to legitimately book new slots for real applicants is late in the evening
